Samsung's new two-way flip foldable may be the future of the Galaxy Z Flip line

At CES 2024, Samsung has unveiled a new flip foldable phone concept known as the In&Out Flip. Unlike traditional flip foldables, this device folds 360 degrees, allowing the display to fold both inwards and outwards. The main folding display eliminates the need for an additional cover screen, contributing to a sleeker and thinner design. When folded outwards, both the front and back of the device serve as screens, offering a unique user experience.

Samsung Display, the creator of the In&Out Flip, emphasizes the durability of the device. The folding display underwent rigorous tests, including folding tests in extreme temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Celsius to -60 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the display’s strength was assessed through activities such as bouncing basketballs on it, rubbing it with sand, and immersing it in water.

The In&Out Flip is positioned as an alternative for consumers who prefer bar-shaped smartphones but desire the flexibility and compactness of foldable products. The innovative design and folding capabilities showcase Samsung’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of foldable phone technology. Alongside the In&Out Flip, Samsung is showcasing other foldable and rollable concepts at CES 2024, including the Rollable Flex, which can expand to five times its original size when rolled out like a scroll, and the Flex Hybrid, a device that serves as both foldable and slideable. These concepts demonstrate Samsung’s ongoing efforts to explore and advance the possibilities of flexible display technology in the smartphone market.
