Rangers down Twins on Adolis Garcia's walk-off HR

Adolis Garcia led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a walk-off home run and the Texas Rangers snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon in Arlington, Texas.

Garcia, who had struck out in his four previous at-bats, drilled a 2-2 fastball by Twins reliever Josh Winder (2-1) 430 feet into the second deck in left for his 34th homer of the season.

Mitch Garver went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs, Jonah Heim and Leody Taveras each had two doubles and Corey Seager had two hits and a run scored for the Rangers (76-60), who won for just the fourth time in their last 16 games. Cody Bradford (3-1) picked up the win with a 1-2-3 ninth as Texas moved within one game of the first-place Seattle Mariners.

Royce Lewis went 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored, Carlos Correa when 3-for-5 with an RBI and Edouard Julien had two hits for Minnesota (71-66).

Texas jumped out to the lead in the first inning on a three-run homer by Garver off Twins starter Kenta Maeda, a 396-foot drive to left-center that drove in Seager and Nathaniel Lowe, who had both singled.

Minnesota tied it in the fifth on an opposite-field, three-run homer by Lewis off Texas starter Jon Gray. The 347-foot drive landed near the right field foul pole and drove in Julien, who had singled, and Jorge Polanco, who had walked.

The Rangers regained the lead in the sixth when reliever Cole Sands threw a bases-loaded wild pitch behind Garcia, allowing Marcus Semien to score from third and make it 4-3.

The Twins tied it in the seventh when Lewis led off with a single, advanced to second on a single by Max Kepler and scored a single by Correa.

Garver led off the bottom of the seventh with his second home run of the game and 15th of the season, a 426-foot drive to left-center, to put Texas back in front 5-4. But Minnesota came back to tie it in the eighth on an RBI single by Lewis, setting the stage for Garcia’s heroics in the ninth.
