37-year-old Terrence Brooks arrested by NYPD on grand larceny auto, reckless driving charges

In a bizarre and chaotic incident in midtown Manhattan, a 37-year-old man named Terrence Brooks was caught on camera crashing a stolen vehicle into a taxi and a parked car. The episode unfolded at 11 a.m. on Nov. 26 at the southwest corner of Broadway and West 55th Street. A victim reported feeling threatened by Brooks, who then allegedly stole the parked vehicle and fled westbound on 55th Street, colliding with a taxi and a parked car.

Jeremy Graf’s footage captured the unfolding events, revealing Brooks lying in the street in front of a bus before standing atop an SUV stopped at the intersection. Police arrived at the scene, surrounded Brooks, and ordered him to step down. When he didn’t comply, an officer pulled him down, breaking the car’s windshield. The SUV’s driver, who had left the vehicle, appeared to strike Brooks with his fist before police intervened.

Brooks was charged with grand larceny auto and reckless driving, and online arrest records indicate a bond of $3,500. He is scheduled for a court appearance on Dec. 1. The incident underscored the danger posed and the potential harm caused by the chaotic sequence of events.
